At The Chapel
backPreviously a 17th-century coaching inn located on Bruton’s High Street in a Grade II listed building, At The Chapel now houses a bakery, wine shop, and restaurant. It’s a warm and friendly place to shop and experience a Mediterranean-style menu made with seasonal and local ingredients, with visitors enjoying brunch, lunch, and dinner throughout the day. The chef works closely with local growers to create a fresh and seasonal menu that showcases the best of the region.
At The Chapel offers a wonderful space to enjoy a meal throughout the day, just down the road. In the summer, visitors can enjoy alfresco dining on the south-facing terrace, surrounded by jasmine and perfect for relaxing in the sun. Alternatively, they can dine in the main dining area located in the 18th-century chapel with its soaring ceilings, open plan layout, and contemporary decoration. For those looking for a more peaceful environment, the calm clubroom is a great spot to work or relax with a dog.
The artisan bakery at At The Chapel is a great place for a morning catch-up or an evening pizza. Head baker Tom Hitchmough has been baking at The Chapel for the past 12 years, using traditional techniques, stone-ground flour, and a long fermentation process to create incredible bread. In addition to sourdough pizza, the bakery offers a great selection of treats, including jam and custard donuts, brownies, blondies, and sausage rolls, as well as vegan options.
The winestore at At The Chapel boasts a carefully sourced collection of great quality wines, making it a wonderful place to visit. Expect stories of small producers who create the 50 incredible tasting wines from Europe to South Africa and South America. Created by real people in real vineyards, these wines are all special and unique. Visitors can pick up a bottle to go with their dinner and head back to Durslade Farmhouse to curl up next to the fire.
