Kilver Court Gardens
backA stunning 3.5-acre sacred garden in the heart of Somerset first created in the late 19th century. Explore the millpond, parterre, herbaceous borders, rockeries, and Charlton Viaduct, created by the industrialist Ernest Hardine to provide his workforce with inspirational working conditions.
The millponds were initially created as a boating lake and gardens for workers’ recreation. After a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show, a rockery constructed with sandstone from the Forest of Dean was added. In 1996, designer Roger Saul added a parterre, following classic French styles, along with a 100m herbaceous border. Fruit and vegetables were grown in the gardens for lunchtime meals, and allotments were created so workers could grow their own food.
While on-site, you can also enjoy the café, as well as designer shops such as Mulberry, Toast, and Yves Delorme.
